The premium sedan offering from the Czech automaker, Skoda Octavia has been doing really well in terms of sales numbers for the company. That’s due to its impressive performance, enviable list of features and extensive engine options. Now however, the Czech automaker is planning to bring its high performance Octavia vRS model on to the Indian shores. This new Octavia vRS, which is now in its third generation was officially presented at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed and was also launched in the international market at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Its commercial debut in India though, was launched in 2014.
After the launch of regular Octavia, Skoda launches its New Skoda Octavia RS AWD diesel with an all wheel drive system which also comes with a dual clutch system. The bad news is that it will only arrive with limited availability, The only power train combination to gain all-paw grip is the 2.0 litre diesel, matched to a six-speed DSG automatic.
Power and torque outputs for the 135 TDI engine remain the same, with 135 kW of power and 380 Nm of torque between 1750 and 3250 rpm. Thanks to the added traction of the 4×4 system the Octavia RS can now sprint from 0-100km/h in 7.6 seconds, shaving a considerable amount of time off the front wheel drive version’s 8.2 second sprint time.That is 0.5 seconds faster than the previous front wheel drive version.
On the all-wheel drive system this car offers, this is what the company had to say, “Our first all-wheel drive Skoda Octavia RS expands our RS range with another highly attractive version, highlighting our expertise in 4×4 technology”. Another advantage drivers will feel is the improved traction during quick accelerations from standing starts
Also, the Skoda Octavia RS 4×4 features the best aspects of the front-wheel drive Octavia RS. The technological highlights include sports suspension with multi-link setup and electronic differential lock XDS+ for dynamic cornering, progressive steering and numerous assistance systems.
