Hyundai had launched Verna version 1.0 in 2006 in India but the car never managed to gain the expected popularity due to its poor design and lack of features. But after five years in 2011, the South Korean car manufacturer launched the all-new Hyundai Verna Fluidic based on the RB concept. This car can be considered as a revolution in automotive industry. With its sleek, stylish and fluidic exteriors, cozy and comfortable interiors and advanced safety devices, this car can boasts as one of the best car in C+ segment, giving a tough competition to the other cars in the same segment. The Koreans can definitely roar the slogan “We are back…and this time with a bang!!” Due to the addition of new featured and the fluidic design, its price tends to peak a bit higher compared to the other cars in the same segment, ranging between Rs 7.2-11.5 lakhs.
With its all fresh Fluidic design, Hyundai Verna is definitely a visual treat for those who appreciate style and elegance. From the front, this car is equipped with similar features as that of the new i-gen i20, featuring a similar hexagonal grille carrying the famous Hyundai logo, sharp and dynamic headlamps and sleek “V” ridge on the bonnet. The L-shaped fog lamps with jawed chin give this car a mean and a dashing look. To resemble a sports car, Hyundai Verna gets a thin waistline along its length giving it an overall aerodynamic appearance and chrome finish twin exhausts in the rear. Other front and side features include electrically adjustable and foldable side-mirrors with horizontally mounted turn lights, 16 inch sporty alloy wheels, chrome plated door handles and a curvy triangular end to the back passenger window, giving it a Coupe look.
Not only from the front, but even from the rear Hyundai Verna is a blend of style and aesthetics. It is adorned with huge and bulky tail lamps wrapped around its big rear bumper. The reflectors integrated in the lower portion of the rear bumper are shaped in a long triangular fashion giving a visual effect of mean red eyes when driving in dark. The end of the rear bumper is slightly raised so as to give a spoiler effect to the car. Just above the rear windshield, a small vortex generator is placed so that at high speeds, the airflow remains attached to the body of the car, improving its overall aerodynamics. Hyundai Verna can comfortably accommodate 5 passengers. It measures 4370mm in length, 1700mm in width and 1475mm in height giving it a long and sleek look.
Hyundai Verna not only looks great from outside, but from inside too. This car is a perfect blend of class, style and technology. The car is decorated with dual toned dashboard (black/beige) with backlit displays in blue and white. The backlit displays carry a switch to increase or decrease the backlit intensity. The “V-shaped” central control houses single zone climate control, in-built air purifier and integrated MP3/FM player that comes with 2 remotes incorporating speed dependent auto volume.
All the audio and Bluetooth controls have been placed on the height adjustable steering wheel for ease of access while driving. Other features like spacious headrest, ample leg room, faux wood finish, rear camera in the rear view mirror while reversing the car, cooling box for storing chocolates and push-button start with keyless entry give a comforting and a soothing feel during a ride.
The Hyundai Verna Fluidic gets both petrol as well as diesel engine options. For petrol version the car again gets two options with 1.4L & 1.6L engine. The 1.6L Variable Valve Timing engine produces a maximum power of 103 bhp at 5500 rpm and a max torque of 15 kgm at 3000 rpm. This petrol engine gets a five speed manual transmission and can reach a top speed of 195 Km/hr. On the other hand the diesel variant is powered by 1.6L CRDi VGT engine generating a maximum power of 128 bhp at 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 26 kgm at 1900-2750 rpm.
