Gameloft has come up with yet another installment in the Asphalt series and coined it as Asphalt 8: Airborne. With higher and detailed graphics, gravity defying stunts and competitive opponents; Airborne currently rules the racing game market for mobile and tablet devices. Like the previous installments in the Asphalt series, Airborne is launched with iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8 and Blackberry 10 platforms.
The gameplay is very exciting and at the same time, challenging. Each race consists of primary and secondary objectives, primary being winning the race and secondary being anything from barred rolls to flat spins to perfect nitros to no wrecks. A maximum of 5 stars are awarded if one is able to complete all the objectives. Though it takes atleast 2-3 efforts to attain all the stars, the game is really addictive. Nitros are strategically placed on the tracks which have secret short cuts. One needs to get well acclimatized to the tracks in order to win the race at higher levels. As the name “Airborne” suggests, most of the stunts have to be performed in the air in order to get nitro. These stunts include, barred rolls, flat spins, longer air time, etc.
The user experiences nine different locations which are beautifully and intricately designed. These include Monaco, Alps, Venice, Tokyo, Nevada, London, French Guiana, Iceland, and Barcelona. An update in March 2014 included 3 more locations; Dubai, San Diego and The Great Wall. When it comes to cars, you name it, and you have it in this game. There is a large variety available among the 79 cars. These are divided into 5 classes; D, C, B, A and S. Some of these include Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA, Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin V12 Zagato, Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren 12C Spider, Pagani Zonda R, Bugatti 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, Koenigsegg One:1, etc.
With high reviews from GameRankings and Metacritic, Asphalt 8: Airborne is highly recommended for racing gamer enthusiasts.
