The all New Ford Endeavour was first launched in 2004 and since then it has been undergoing renovations on the existing model to ensure that it stays fit on any road and weather conditions. This face-lifted model was launched in 2009. It is the only SUV from Ford to be manufactured in India, it is known as Ford Everest elsewhere. The face-lifted model of the Ford Endeavour comes under the name of Endeavour Alterrain. This vehicle is available in four versions including two transmissions and two engine options. It is a tough SUV with average comfortable space and maximum performance. The ex-showroom price of this SUV ranges from Rs. 19.38 lakhs to 22.57 lakhs.
The tough look of the all New Ford Endeavour is enhanced by the wide grille placed perfectly on the aggressive bonnet together with the large sporty headlights that adds in style to the SUV. High intensity fog lamps are placed just above the bumpers which plays a key role in clearing out the path when visibility is quite low. The anti-glared rear view mirrors on the sides of the SUV are an additional feature that adds style and safety to the vehicle. The aluminum side steppers, front scuff plates, roof tails, and the 16 inch alloy wheels add in detail and enhance the sporty look of the SUV. The traditional rear ladder, uplifted tail lights and the tire compartment makes the car look rather more aggressive. The overall length of the car is 5060 mm, width is 1788mm and height 1826mm. The ground clearance offered by this SUV is 210mm.
The new Ford Endeavour is a luxurious SUV model offering comfortable and spacious passenger room along with lots of advanced luxurious features and world class comfort for the best driving experience. The dual toned grand dashboard, and the user-friendly color of the interior makes the inside profile of the vehicle quite breath taking. The large windows ensure that the interiors are always maintained fresh and airy. The central console displays the audio head unit options, GPS and the reverse view camera. It also displays the four wheel drive option, together with the tachometer, speedometer and also has a fuel gauge level displayer. Some of the other notable features inside include the Climate Control AC system with HVAC, AC vents at second and third row, Titled Power Steering, Keyless Entry, On Board Advanced Music System, Rear Washer and Wiper, Audio System with six speakers etc. With a seating capacity for seven passengers, the vehicle provides enough room space for both head as well as leg. The boot capacity is 2055 litres.
The new Ford Endeavour will be available with two different capacity engines. The first one being the 2.5L Duratorq diesel engine delivering 143 PS of maximum power at 3500 rpm and a maximum torque of 330Nm at 1800 rpm. The second one is the 3.0L Duratorq diesel engine producing a maximum power of 156 PS at 3200 rpm and a maximum torque of 380 Nm at 2500 rpm. Both these engines are equipped with VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) which enhances the overall performance of the vehicle as well as the fuel efficiency. Also these engines get 4WD drive option too that enhances the drivability of the vehicle at all off-road condition.
The hill descent control system ensures that the SUV is descended safely through a steep decline at a steady rate of decent. However the Hill Descent feature is not seen in the Endeavour 4X2 transmission variant of the SUV. The Anti-lock Braking System with EBD ensure that the SUV offers an improved stopping power and the airbags that has been incorporated inside the SUV makes sure that the passengers are safe inside the vehicle any time. Despite these features, the all new Ford Endeavour lack engine braking and hence the SUV vibrate badly on hard braking. The automatic transmission makes the SUV rather more comfortable and is quite a piece or moving through the cities and heavy traffic.
