On 18th September, 2012 the Mercedes-Benz India had introduced their first front wheel drive car, the Mercedes-Benz B Class. The design of the car is inspired from that of the Mercedes-Benz R Class which had become a massive hit in the Indian market. The Mercedes Benz is one of the famous luxury car manufacturers across the world. The character lines on the B Class doors are sharp and the signature three tine grille at the front makes the car rather more attractive and perfect. Just like the front view, the rear view is also simply incomparably magnificent with the tail lights and they are fabricated on car with complete poise. The ex-showroom price for this version ranges from Rs. 21.5 – 24.9 lakhs.
The all new Mercedes-Benz B Class is aerodynamically designed to look magnificent and perfect for flowing over the road. This version looks more like an outgrown hatchback with the significant and interesting design which make one go crazy over the car just with the first look. The front profile of this car has a sweeping bonnet with stylish front grille with a dash of chrome to it. The signature logo of Mercedes, the three pointed star, is embedded in the front radiator grille which gives an overall new profile to the car. The car falls in the Multipurpose Vehicle category, despite of the small size of the car. The radiator grille is flanked with the headlight cluster which has high intensity Bi-Xenon headlamps which has a strip of LED lighting in it. The body colored front bumper has an air dam to keep the engine cool and also has a pair of bright LED lights. This however increases the visibility of the driver in adverse and imperfect conditions. The overall length of the car is 4359mm, width is 1786mm and height is 1557mm. The wheelbase of this car is 2699mm.

The seating arrangement of Mercedes-Benz B Class is rather more luxurious and spacious which can comfortably accommodate five passengers. The high quality upholstery is continued from the seats to the power steering wheel, the gear lever and the hand-brake lever. The central console has wood trimming to make the console rather more elegant and attractive. Chrome outlines are provided for the AC vents to give a rather elegant outlook to the interior. The Multi Information Display screen has a number of notifications, warning lights and various navigation options to make the ride rather more fascinating. The powerful and dynamic stereo system, MP3 player, and speakers add in detail to the interiors. The storage system has a rather large glove compartment, cup and bottle holders, map storage compartment behind the front seats and sun visors with mirrors are some of the additional features that ensure an elegant and comfortable drive.
As of now, Mercedes-Benz B Class comes only in one petrol variant. However, the Germans have decided t launch the diesel variant in India sometime this year. The petrol variant is powered by 1.6 litre 4 cylinder turbo engine with seven speed dual clutch transmission which is capable of producing a maximum power of 122bhp at 5000rpm and a maximum torque of 200Nm at 1250-4000rpm. Mercedes has not left a single stone unturned when it comes to handling of this hatchback. The high performance gearbox with gear shifts gives a smooth and hassle-free riding to this car.
The safety features which are inbuilt to make the Mercedes-Benz B Class safe and secure for the passengers include the seven airbags which ensure safety of the whole passengers in case of a massive collision. The Antilock Braking System has additional acceleration skid control and electronic stability program to ensure complete security of the car when suddenly brake is applied. Collision control system, attention assists, height adjustable ELR seat belts, hill and hold descent control, engine immobilizer and anti-theft alarm system are some of the additional safety features to ensure complete safety of both the passengers and the body of the MPV as a whole.
