The Jaguar has unveiled their latest luxurious car, the Jaguar XJ Ultimate, at the Beijing Motor Show 2012. It is commonly defined as luxury on wheels. The key factors which distinguish itself from the rest of the luxury cars are the powerful engines and the lavish interiors with innovative designs. This new car comes equipped with supercharged AJ 8-Cylinder V GEN III petrol engine with four valve technology. The luxury sedan is equipped with sophisticated technology and other features to go in accordance with the innovative design and structure. The ex-showroom price for this car ranges from Rs. 90.7 – 103.7 lakhs.

Exterior

The lightweight body of Jaguar XJ ensures that less fuel consumption is made and better quality in handling and safety is offered. The sweeping roofline and the swept back Xenon light clusters come together with this sport coupe with four doors. The wider bonnet and the powerful looking wheels add to the aerodynamic feel to the sedan. The adaptive front lights corner lamps and the LED signature lights make the front profile of the car sexier and attention seeking. Electrically adjustable exterior mirrors with power folding, courtesy puddle lamps with auto dimming capability and memory function, windscreen that could be heated, windscreen wipers with rain sensing function, rear windows that could be heated, front and rear parking camera aid are some of the features that make one go crazy over the look of the car. The overall dimensions of the car include width of 2110mm, height of 1448mm and length of 5247mm. The wheel base of the car is about 3175mm.

 Interior

The driver’s seat of Jaguar XJ is equipped with all those features that one would look in any luxury car together with ample comforts. The seat is designed to fit in the driver comfort by providing a luxurious head and leg space. The three spoke steering wheel is equipped with all the multifunctions to ensure that the driver doesn’t need to try hard to operate the instruments within. Premium carpet mats are present in both the front and the rear seats. However, the front and the rear seat are upholstered in soft leather. The sunroof can be opened automatically. Another outstanding feature of the car is the presence of bathing light. The inside of the car turns blue at night and thus the luxurious internal space is highlighted. The cup holders at the front and the rear seats and also in the arm rests make sure water is not spilled inside the sedan.

Engine & Performance

Jaguar XJ comes in two variants – petrol and diesel. The petrol variant is equipped with one of the most powerful engines in this car segment. The 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine can produce a maximum power of 385bhp at 6500rpm and a maximum torque of 515Nm at 3500rpm. This engine is coupled with fully adaptive shift system comprising of electronically controlled steering wheel operated six-speed automatic transmission. In addition to this base petrol variant, the Englishmen have developed a 5.0 litre V8 supercharged engine which is capable of producing a peak power of 510bhp at 6000-6500rpm and a peak torque of 625Nm at 2500-5500rpm. The 3.0 litre V6 diesel variant can produce a maximum power of 275bhp at 4000rpm and a maximum torque of 600Nm at 2000rpm.

Safety

The pedestrian contact sensor, three flash land indicators, dual airbags in the driver and passenger seats, air bag side curtain, whiplash protection system at the front, front and rear seat belt reminder are some of the safety features that come embedded in the latest version of the Jaguar XJ. Adaptive Dynamics, electric parking brakes, automatic speed limiter within cruise control, dynamic stability control, TRAC DSC mode, air suspension and quick ratio power steering are other additional features that ensure complete safety of the passengers within. The Anti Locking Brake System with Brake Assist ensures that the car is put to halt as soon as the driver applies the brakes.
