These were the words of President John F. Kennedy in 1962 to encourage the initiation of the Apollo Spaceflight mission. The video starts with this particular nostalgic moment and then proceeds to the top speed record test drive of Hennessey Venom GT. Now, most of you must have heard of the biggies like Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Bugatti etc; but as of now Hennessey Venom GT is the fasting moving machine on road. The location is a 3.2 mile runway at the Kennedy Space Center Shuttle Landing Facility. The test driver is the experienced Brian Smith, Director of Miller Motorsports Park and also a vehicle dynamics engineer. The video displays the sheer raw power of this mean machine. The sound of the engine gives me goose bumps each time I watch it. Hennessey Venom GT achieves a top speed of 270.49 mph (435.31 kmph) which is currently the fastest car in the world after Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, which displayed a top speed of 267.86 mph (431.07 kmph). In order to qualify for the Guinness Book of Records, there have to be at least 30 cars in production. Since Hennessey has produced only 16 cars as of now and the test run was only in one direction of the runway, the Guinness Book of Records have disqualified the Venom GT and Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport still holds the crown.
