Volkswagen Vento has been exclusively designed by the German manufacturer to go in direct competition with the Indian market leader, the Honda City. As an entry level sedan car, the Volkswagen Vento had managed to prosper in the automobile market, right from the start. In 2010, the Volkswagen group has introduced their fourth hybrid car, the Volkswagen Vento, in their new factory in Pune. This new hybrid is available in both diesel and petrol versions. Vento is regarded as an extended version of the hatchback, Volkswagen Polo, which adds in minor details to differentiate it from the latter. Exterior

The key feature that makes Volkswagen Vento a grand competitor with others in the market is the wider and well proportioned interiors and exteriors. The car is designed as aerodynamic and is stuffed with features. Moreover, the car has a perfect designing without any flaws. Although this car has a familiar look, they attain to capture every people’s attention by just the way it is made. The rounded fog lamps and the revised air dam embedded in the front bumper together with the chrome surround is what that makes the car exceptional from others. As the other versions have, the Vento also has a radiator grille which has the VW logo on it. The rear is however revised with squarish rear LED lights, and has a boot capacity of 500 liters. The overall length of the car is 4384mm, width of 1699mm and height of 1466mm. The ground clearance offered by this model is 168mm and has a wheelbase of 2552mm.

Interior

Volkswagen Vento offers a sense of tranquility due to the sophisticated and mind-blowing interior designing, which is in close proximity to the exterior. The beautifully designed dashboard together with the fabric upholstered interior makes the car to be elegant to compromise its individuality. The front doors and the rear doors have special storage compartments, including that to hold a 1L bottle. The glove compartment also has a special storage for sunglasses. Trunk illumination is present which is fully lined and also has a trunk floor. The roof handles are foldable and it also has coat hooks within. The central console and the front center armrest has cup holders embedded in them. In addition to it, the central console also has a 12V outlet in it. The dashboard is dual tone and has an anti – glare feature. They are available in both; black and beige colors.

Engine & Performance

Volkswagen Vento comes in two variants; petrol and diesel. Similar to Volkswagen Polo, the petrol variant of this sedan is equipped with 1.6 liter DOHC inline petrol engine and comes in both, 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission. It produces a maximum power of 105bhp at 5250 rpm and a maximum torque of 153Nm at 3800rpm. The 1.6 liter diesel variant comes only in 5-speed manual transmission and can generate a peak power of 105bhp at 4400rpm and a peak torque of 250Nm at 1500-2500rpm.

Safety

Both inbuilt passive and active safeguards are present for the hybrid Volkswagen Vento. While applying sudden brake while driving, the ABS feature ensures that the wheel lock is prevented, and that the car is still steerable. In order to reduce the impact of the collision, the car has airbags both in the driver’s and co-passenger seats. The car ensures that the driver can drive in any weather condition with the front and rear fog lamps. The anti-theft system with embedded interior surveillance and backup alarms, height adjustable front and rear seat belts, lap belt for the rear middle passenger, front and rear headrests, high mount stop lamps, front disc brakes, engine immobilizer and day night rear view mirrors are the other key safety features that makes the car simply irresistible to purchase.
