General Motors has made their way successfully in the hatchback segment, with the introduction of the new hybrid variety, the Chevrolet Sail UVA. This vehicle is an end product which resulted from the joint venture of GM-SAIC in China. This hatchback is available in both the petrol version and the diesel versions. About seven versions are present for this hatchback, with 2 engines and 1 transmission options. This model has been designed to go into competition with Ford Figo, Toyota Etios Liva and Maruti Swift. Chevrolet Sail UVA has been designed exclusively after keen analyzing and matured innovations. The angular headlines, the split front grille, the bonnet and the front bumper with edgy lines and the aerodynamic figure makes the car exceptionally jaw dropping. The dual rounded fog lamps and the simple air dam embedded in it marks the individuality of the car. At the front gates, body colored outside projected mirrors are embedded on it. 14 inch alloy wheels give the car an extra sporty appearance. A simple boot gate with tall lights is the key feature that makes the rear rather attractive, although they lack a fashionable C-pillar. The rear bumper has two reflective lights, rear wiper and body colored spoiler are other additional features on the latest versions of the new U-VA. The overall length of the car is 3946mm, width of 1690mm and the height 1503mm. The ground clearance offered by this car is 174mm.

Interior

The brown and beige color of the Chevrolet Sail UVA dashboard gives an airy comfort and feeling to the interior of the cabin. The central console, as well as the surroundings of the of the side AC vents is made attentive with silver finishing. At first look, the steering is seemed to be out of position and they lack attractive colors as well. The dashboard seems to be rather bland with only plastic finishing. The buttons for horn are present on either side of the 3-spoke steering wheel. The instrument cluster includes an analogue speedometer, digital tachometer and a digital display with trip meter, odometer and fuel meter. Dead pedal and height adjustment for the driver’s seat is absent, which makes it rather uncomfortable. The power window switches are present ahead of the gear lever, which makes the feature difficult to operate. The audio system is associated with USB, AUX and Bluetooth functions. The door handles just contains the opening lever and no controls are present. The wiper and the indicator stalks are present on the right side respective of that in Aveo, Optra and Cruze. The boot space has 248 liters of luggage capacity.

Engine & Performance

Chevrolet Sail UVA comes in two variants; petrol and diesel. The 1.2 liter S-TEC petrol engine variant is capable of producing a maximum power of 84.8bhp and a maximum torque of 113Nm at 6000rpm. The diesel variant is powered by a 1.3 liter turbocharged SMARTECH engine which can produce a maximum power of 76.4bhp and a maximum torque of 205Nm at 4000rpm.

Chevrolet Sail UVA is stuffed with features to ensure complete safety of the passengers.
