Legendary INS Vikrant's metal to be reused in Bajaj's new bike

Postby The Stig » Sat Jan 30, 2016 11:47 pm

So its been a while since Bajaj thought out of the box apart from pulsar's and avenger's. Well here it is the Bajaj V, The details or final design rendering is still unknown but there is one thing very special about it.

6 Speed gearbox, 350 CC engine....??

No!! well the answer to that question may still be unknown but one thing Bajaj had told was the metal used on the bike would be from the legendary INS Vikrant. Yes you heard it right the INS Vikrant an Indian Navy aircraft carrier which helped us win many wars.

The ship was built under the name Hercules for the British Royal Navy during World War II, but construction was put on hold after the war's end, and she never entered British service. India purchased the incomplete carrier from the United Kingdom in 1957, and construction was completed in 1961. INS Vikrant was commissioned as the first aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy. After years of distinguished service, she was decommissioned in January 1997.

From 1997 to 2012, she was preserved as a museum ship in Cuffe Parade, Mumbai, until it was closed in 2012 due to safety concerns. At the end of January 2014, Vikrant was sold through an online auction to a Darukhana ship-breaker for 60 crores, Where she underwent preparations to be broken up.

Bajaj India seems to have purchased the scrapped ship and have plans to recycle its metal to produce bikes seems like a good idea

Possible outcomes :

> The metal can be used to make a limited number of bikes.
> Or a small portion of the ships metal can be mixed with other raw metal.
> The side profile look's like a cafe racer.
> Chances of a good engine and gearbox from Bajaj can be expected.
> Let me not me judgmental but it should be either a very good bike or a flop version which had too much anticipation.

Here is a teaser of the model "V" from Bajaj

The bike will be revealed on first of feb till then drive safe ~
