Today, India's largest utility vehicle manufacture officially launched its much awaited new sub-compact SUV, KUV100 (Kool Utility Vehicle). The KUV100 will be available in 4 four different trims - K2, K4, K6 and K8 in both Petrol and Diesel Variants. This sub - 4 meter compact SUV will be positioned below the Quanto and the TUV300 SUV with starting price in the range of Rs 4.42 - 6.76 lakh (ex-showroom Pune).
To support its off road capabilities, the KUV100 is equipped with mFalcon engine jointly developed by Mahindra and Ssangyong (South Korea - based automobile manufacturer).



Highlights:

Exterior:
Built on a new monocoque chassis, the KUV100 looks definitely sporty and aggressive. Its bold stance on a road is eye-catching and will surely make heads turn around. Look wise, it carries several cues from its big bro's, the XUV500 and the Scorpio. Looking from the front, the most eye catching features are wrap-around headlights with LED DRLs, Scorpio inspired front grille, Trapezoidal Fog lights and a silver skid plate below the front bumper.
The side profile is dominated by high shoulder lines and wide wheel arches. The black under-body plastic cladding flowing from the front wheel arch to rear wheel arch, compliments the masculine side profile. The front door has body color door handle on the door panel, while for the rear door; it's placed on the window pillar (inspired from Chevy Beat). This mini SUV rolls on 14 inch alloy wheels wrapped in 185/65 R14 front and rear tyres.
The other SUV kind features are, high hip point, wider stance (1715 mm), high ground clearance of 170 mm, curvy roofline, roof rails and a wrap around rear design.
Interior:
Open the front door, and you will be welcomed by a premium dual tone interior with piano black finished dashboard. The other noticeable features are, dashboard mounted gear lever to provide enough legroom for a person sitting in the middle, silver accents on steering wheel, and Scorpio - inspired instrumental cluster.
This mini SUV comes with two seating configurations; a 5 seat (2+3) and 6 seats (3+3) with bench type. Apart from the spacious cabin, the other comfort features include, touch screen audio system, climate control AC system, height adjustable driver seat, front and rear arm rests and power windows.
Mahindra offers ABS with EBD as a standard feature across all variants, while top variants get airbags as a standard.

Engine and Transmission:

To support its off road capabilities, the Mahindra KUV100 is equipped with mFalcon engine jointly developed by Mahindra and Ssangyong (South Korea - based automobile manufacturer).
The 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 Petrol variant will provide 82bhp and max torque of 114 Nm at 3500 rpm, while 1.5-litre MFalcon D75 Diesel will punch 77 bhp and max torque of 190 Nm at 2250 rpm. Only 5 speed manual transmission with two wheel Drivetrain system currently available across all variants with no any immediate plans for AMT unit.
